General Description
Location: Khanom is located 3km NNW of Cape Natham, on the E shore of the Gulf of Thailand.
General overview: The small port has lighter berths for loading barite ore and gypsum into vessels at anchor. Close S, Sumpun Mining has a wharf with two berths for the loading of bulk gypsum. At the new jetty the vessel is moored to 8 buoys (4 forward and 4 aft) and is kept 3m off the jetty. Vessel is to be equipped with 8 lines of at least 280m length each. Cargo loading is performed via one belt conveyor for loading gypsum in bulk, rate 500-550 MT per hour basis bulk vessel. Khanom has 12.5 m - 13.7 m anchor depth and 7.1m - 9.2 m cargo depth. Cargo will be loaded by one fixed conveyor belt with a loading rate about 5,000 mt a day, subject to co-operation from ship crew.
