General Description
Location: Husum is located on Schleswig-Holstein's W coast, opening into the North Sea.
General overview: The port is divided into the outer and inner port by a railway drawbridge. Only the outer port is open to commercial vessels. The main imports are agricultural produce and timber with the main exports being timber, feeding stuffs and manufactured goods.
The maximum draft is 4 meters. The load density of water is 1025. The tidal range is 3 to 3.5 meters. The wind prevails from southeast to northwest. Pilotage is not compulsory. If necessary, the pilot will board the ship near the MITTELHEVER sand dam.
Port service facilities include: ship repair, refueling, dry dock, dinghy, medical treatment, towing, fresh water supply, supplies, repatriation, and no sewage facilities. The length of the incoming vessel is 120 meters, the width is 18 meters, and the draft is 4 meters. The port is divided into two parts: the outer port and the inner port by a railway bridge: the outer port has a water depth of 4 meters at the average high water level, the berth coastline is 580 meters long, and the water depth is 3 to 4 meters; the inner port berth coastline is 480 meters long.
