Location: Granville is located in Normandy on the N coast of the country ,at Cherbourg peninsula, 77.0 n.m. SW of Le Havre and 21.0 n.m. NE×E of Saint Malo. General overview: Granville is a commercial, fishing and recreational port covering an area of some 13ha with 800m of quays. The port deals mainly with general cargo and the wet basin is entered through a single lock gate. Berths: Determined according to nature of cargo. ● Tidal Basin: 3 electric cranes (2x7 tons and 1x6 tons) serve the South quay, and 1x10 tons serves the North and East quays. Open areas, warehouses and storage silo capable of receiving all goods in bulk, bags or packages. Internal transport: rail and road. ● Fore Port: Open area and mobile cradle capable of hauling up vessels up to 100 tons. 1x5 ton crane on cradle. Repair yards. ● West Quay: Between tidal basin and fore-port – solely for fish discharge and auction. Quay to be lengthened by 110 m. and widened by 14 m. Traffic figures: Approx 140 vessels visit the port and 124,000t of cargo handled annually. Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31. Max size: Max LOA 120m, beam 19m and draught 4.0m rising to 7.0m depending on tidal height. Largest vessel: LOA 115m, draught 7.6m, 4,500DWT has used the port.
