The shipping platform

Location: The location selected for the midstream berth is approx 1,000m S of the centre line of the existing shipping channel into Golfito, and approx 1,000m from the shoreline. General overview: A midstream ship anchorage will be installed outside the passage into Golfito, adjacent to and clear of the existing shipping channel. The site will provide a safe anchorage location for ocean going woodchip vessels and for midstream trans-loading of woodchips from barges. Trans-loading will be by a one or two crane barge haul system provided by a marine operations contractor. The site was selected to provide clearance from shipping operations and with a minimum 14m depth of water for loaded woodchip vessels. Max size: Max vessel size is 49,000DWT, LOA 195m (approx), beam 30m (approx), max draught 13m, max deck height 15m (approx).
