Location: The port of Hastings (formerly known as Western Port, Victoria), is situated in Western Port Bay SE of Port Phillip Bay, approx 72km SE of Melbourne. General overview: The entrance is to the W of Phillip Island which fronts the bay to seaward, the E'ly entrance is narrow and tortuous and only available for small vessels. Principal cargoes handled include; Imports: Petroleum and steel products. Exports: Crude oil, refined petroleum products and LPG. Traffic figures: Approx 200 vessels, 5,000,000t of cargo, comprising mostly oil exports, handled annually. Load line zone: Summer. Max size: Tankers: LOA 300m, 165,000DWT, 15.0m draught, depending on tide. Dry cargo: LOA 179m (Ro-Ro), 200m (dry bulk), draught 11.0m.
