General Description
Location: The port of Corner Brook is situated on the S shore of Humber Arm in the Bay of Islands (Newfoundland), 35km from the sea. General overview: The Corner Brook waterfront extends along the S shore of Humber Arm for approx 9.6km W from Humbermouth. The centre of the city waterfront is 34km from South Head. South Head commands the S entrance to the Bay of Islands. There are no off lying shoals near the approaches. Occasional ice breaker assistance will be required during winter months. There is wharfage operated by Harbour and Ports Directorate, Transport Canada for general cargo in addition to private wharves for handling forest products, cement, fish, oil, sulphur and caustic soda. Load line zone: North Atlantic Winter Seasonal Zone II, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.
