General Description
Location: Coquimbo is entered between Punta Pelicanos, the N extremity of Peninsula de Coquimbo and Punta Teatinos. General overview: Coquimbo is one of the principal ports of N Chile, a natural coastal port with excellent shelter. There are two berths at the port both used for general cargo. Main exports are copper concentrate, fresh fruit, canned fish, bagged minerals. Main imports are wheat and maize. Traffic figures: Approx 200,000t and 2,548TEU are handled annually. Load line zone: Tropical. Max size: LOA 180m, 9.4m draught.
