General Description
Location: Carloforte is situated on the Island of San Pietro, which is situated some five miles off the SW coast of Sardinia, opposite Portoscuso.
General overview: The small port has a well sheltered roadstead which provides good anchorage in 22m of water, but the port itself has just 4.6m in the harbour entrance. Marina Sifredi is responsible for a total of 250 berths in the two marinas to the north and south of the harbour. Short-stay visitors normally berth in the northerly marina, which is closer to the town and its numerous facilities. Longer-term visitors wil normally be directed to the smaller, southerly marina. Minimum depths in the harbour are 5.5m. Yachts up to a maximum of 50m can be accommodated. The marina has a ship yard and a 75 tonne capacity travel lift as well as hard standing and nautical supplies
Main exported cargoes are zinc, lead and tuna fish, with a local ferry service, also a fishing port. Regularly scheduled ferries connect Carloforte port with Sardinia Island (at Portovesme and Calasetta) and with a fishing port on Sant'Antioco Island.
Load line zone: Summer.
Max size: Draught 4.26m.
