General Description
Location: Cape Cuvier is situated on the W coast of Australia, N of the Geographe Channel.
General overview: The onshore facilities incorporate the Lake MacLeod salt and gypsum reclamation operations. The privately operated offshore vessel moorings and loading facilities are situated at the end of a timber decked jetty. Depth at the berth (LAT) is 17.8m. A central timber decked wharf head carries a fixed position, stiff arm, slewing and luffing conveyor boom shiploader with deflector capability for spout trimming.
The moorings consist of 6 buoys fitted with fixed hooks and held to the seabed by concrete clumps backed up by one or more anchors.
Traffic figures: Approx 2,500,000t of cargo handled annually.
Load line zone: Summer.
Max size: LOA approx 220m, max draught 16.8m, approx 75,000DWT.
