General Description
Location: Boshnyakovo is located in the Tatarskiy Strait on the W coast of Sakhalin Island in the Avgustovka River estuary. General overview: The port consists of outer roads with 6 deep water anchor berths and an inner harbour. The principal cargo is coal, which is loaded by vessel's gear, barges and pontoons in the roads. Timber and general cargo are also handled. Foreign flag vessels should obtain inward clearance at the port of Kholmsk to the S of Boshnyakova. The port is ice covered from Jan to mid Mar but passable. Load line zone: Summer zone for vessels over 100m LOA and winter seasonal area for vessels of 100m LOA or less. Winter Dec-Feb, Summer Mar-Nov. Max size: Max draught 1.8m. Alongside: Controlling depths up to 2.4m.
