General Description
Location: The port of Beypore is situated at the entrance to Beypore River approximately 10km S of Kozhikode (Calicut) and 180km N of Cochin.
General overview: The port is an estuarine port under the control of Calicut, which has 2 wharves together with storage sheds, cranes and tugs for the working of lighters from the anchorage and small coastal vessels.
The wharf and approach channel is proposed to be developed into a larger port. The port handles general cargo, petroleum products, bauxite, tiles and bricks, granite, unrefined palm oil, timber and machinery.
Traffic figures: Approx. 100,000t of cargo and 7,500 passengers handled annually.
