General Description
Location: Prachuap Port, also known as Bang Saphan, is located in the western part of the Gulf of Thailand, approx 380km by road from Bangkok. General overview: Prachuap is Thailand's deepest sea port. The port has 2 jetties capable of handling up to 4 vessels simultaneously. The port is situated 5km from the steel rolling mill which uses scrap and billet steel to manufacture steel rods for the construction industry. Other cargoes handled at the port include minerals, cement, containers, rubber, fertiliser and tapioca. Traffic figures: Approx 4,000,000t of cargo handled annually. Load line zone: Tropical. Max size: Draught 13.5m. Largest vessel handled: "Afros", LOA 242m, draught 13.5m, 75,000DWT.
