General Description
Location: Karwar is situated in Karnataka State in SW India, 10nm NW of Belekeri.
General overview: The port is mainly a bulk terminal with lighters as well as cargo berth facilities. Coastal vessels mostly call the port and it consists of a jetty for fishing boats.
Cargoes:
- Imports are fertilizers, rock phosphate, industrial salt and timber.
- Exports include iron and manganese ore, granite stone, hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid and marine products.
Traffic figures: Approx. 3,000,000t of cargo handled annually.
