General Description
Location: Huasco Bay extends 4nm WSW from the mouth of the Huasco River. General overview: The port contains 2 terminals, Guacolda No 1 handling petroleum and coal imports and Guacolda No 2 handling exports of iron pellets, both under the control of the Huasco Port Authorities. Principal exports are iron ore pellets. Traffic figures: Approx 4,000,000t of iron ore pellets are loaded through Guacolda II Terminal, 1,000,000t of bulk cargo is unloaded through Guacolda I Terminal and 93 vessels are handled annually. Load line zone: Tropical. Max size: Guacolda II Ore Berth: LOA 315m, draught 22.0m, beam 55m, airdraught 18m and 250,000DWT. Largest vessel handled: "Wesser Ore", 274,331DWT.
