General Description
Location: The Port of Bejaia is approx.180 kilometers east of the Port of Algiers and about 100 kilometers east-southeast of the Port of Dellys.
General overview: The port consists of 3 basins with 24 berths protected by breakwaters. The entrance channel is 330m wide with a depth of 14m, sheltered anchorage obtainable off the breakwaters. Industrial plants for vegetable oil production and refining, wood processing, textile mills and public works plants are all nearby. All types of cargo including containers although the port is considered an important seaport for exporting oil from the Sahara region. Road and rail connections are available to other Algerian towns.
The Container terminal is operated by Bejaia Mediterranean Terminal. (includ. equipment: 2 - 40tns post-panamax cranes, 5 - 36tns RTG's and 360 reefer points)
